About Julianna Lawless

Since as early as I can remember, I’ve been inspired by visual storytelling through photo and film. My first camera at seven years old was a small, $30 camcorder—something I had no idea would later shape the entire trajectory of my life. Those early, simple moments now influence the vintage, cinematic style I’m drawn to and continue to express through my work.

After graduating high school and spending years capturing photos and videos for close friends and family (most of the time unpaid), I decided it was time to take the next step and pursue a filmmaking degree at Rutgers University. After completing my first semester, I knew I had made the right decision. I was eager to continue growing my knowledge through both education and hands-on experience in the field.

My approach to photography and cinematic filmmaking starts with building a genuine connection with my clients. This allows me to better understand their story and bring it to life through my lens. Whether it’s a business, a creative project, or a personal milestone, I take the time to understand what story is being told—and why it matters.

A key part of every session is the pre-planning process. From color palettes and wardrobe choices to lighting, location, and inspiration references, every detail plays an important role in making sure we are aligned and able to achieve the best possible outcome.

At the end of the day, capturing timeless visuals is only part of what my clients walk away with. The most important part is that they leave with a deeper understanding of their story, themselves, or their brand. If you have a story to tell, I’d love to help you bring it to life—reach out today to start planning your next session.
